The creation of a strong identity all starts with selecting a name and giving it an attractive face. The Network Information Centre Malta (NIC Malta) approached us to give a new lease of life to their brand as they launched the new national domain service .mt This service would bring about a national revolution in domain naming for local businesses and entities, making the domains .mt, .com.mt, .org.mt, .edu.mt etc. available at a click of a button to entities registered in Malta. A new name was required for the service formerly known as NIC Malta, which would share the brand together with the Malta Internet Foundation. Their brand would need to appear distinct on print, but more importantly on the web. The chosen brand is a minimalist interpretation of the Maltese Flag in typography. The icon is simple, timeless and easily recognisable. A restricted colour scheme was designed to enforce the brand with the national colours of the Maltese Islands. The client’s main request was to simplify its UX design and improve the user interface. This would facilitate the search for domain availability whilst providing an easy-to-use member platform for domain management.
